The short version

macrodesk is a local-first desktop app. Your broker keys, layouts, watchlists, and trading activity stay on your device. We run no market-data backend, and we do not sell or profile your data.

What we collect

To run paid subscriptions, our payment provider processes the account and billing details you give them (such as your email and payment method). We receive only what we need to manage your license — typically your email and subscription status. The free plan requires no account.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your broker credentials, API keys, order history, positions, or the market data you view. Those stay on your machine and, where relevant, move only between your device and the services you connect to directly.

Where your data lives

App settings, layouts, watchlists, your trade journal, and cached history are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app and its data folder removes them, and we cannot recover them, because we never had them.

Broker credentials and API keys are held in your operating system’s credential store — Keychain on macOS, Credential Manager on Windows, the platform keyring on Linux. That store is encrypted by the platform and tied to your user account. Those credentials are never placed in browser storage and are never transmitted to us.

How long we keep it

On your device, everything stays until you delete it. The in-app news archive prunes itself continuously and holds roughly a day.

On our side we keep your licence key and activation record for the life of the licence plus twelve months, so a billing dispute can be resolved; any email address you give us until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it; resting paper-trading orders, if you opt into the cloud paper service, for ninety days after they fill or are cancelled; and broker authorization tokens only for the seconds it takes to hand them to your device, after which they are discarded rather than stored.

Service request logs are retained by our hosting provider on its own schedule. We do not export or aggregate them.

Why we are allowed to process it

Where the UK or EU GDPR applies, we rely on performance of a contract, for the licence and account data needed to give you the software you bought; our legitimate interests, for security, abuse prevention and keeping the service running, balanced against your rights; your consent, for product-update emails, which you can withdraw at any time; and legal obligation, for records we must keep for tax and accounting.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in the CCPA and CPRA.

Third parties

Two kinds of third parties may be involved, both at your direction: our payment provider (for subscriptions) and the broker and data providers you choose to connect. Each has its own privacy policy. We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.

The processors we rely on to run the service are Cloudflare, which hosts this site and our licensing and paper-trading services, and Whop, which processes payments and holds your billing details. Card details are handled by the payment provider and never reach us.

The website

This website may use minimal, privacy-respecting analytics to understand traffic. It uses no advertising trackers, and we choose privacy-preserving defaults where a choice exists.

Your rights

You can stop using the app and delete its local data at any time, without asking us. That covers most of what exists, because most of it never leaves your machine.

For the limited data we do hold, you can ask us for a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, to receive it in a portable form, or to object to or restrict how we use it. Email support@macrodesk.app and we will action the request within thirty days. If we have to keep something — a billing record we are legally required to retain, for example — we will tell you what and why, and delete the rest.

Withdrawing consent to product emails does not affect your licence, and asking us to delete your data does not require you to give a reason. If you are in the UK, EU or EEA and you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date below and make material changes clear.
